Rethink Breast Cancer
September 2009.
Do you find this picture shocking? Rethink Breast Cancer is a charity helping young people who are concerned about and affected by breast cancer through innovative breast cancer education, research and support programs. Rethink is a national volunteer-driven registered charity with a bold, enterprising and entrepreneurial approach.
Rethink recently helped to produce a PSA video on breast cancer which some media outlets consider have stepped across the bounds of fund raising. Watch the two videos and you decide, it’s become a world wide hit on YouTube and debated on all of the national talk shows in North America and other countries around the world. The video brings attention in a highly provocative way to a cancer that affects 1 in 9 women in Canada. What few people realize is that breast cancer also affects 1 in 100,000 men and is more prevalent in men working in electrical occupations.
This short video is provocative but not very informative about breast cancer. What this video does not include and what most cancer clinics are still unaware of is that breast cancer is linked to electromagnetic exposure. This has been documented in epidemiological studies, in studies with laboratory animals, and in studies with human breast cancer cells in vitro. For a review of research in this area, read my paper (Havas 2000) in Environmental Reviews, the Breast Cancer Testimony 2008, and Breast Cancer Appeal 2009 I presented at a breast cancer hearing in Ontario dealing with Bell Canada and three women who developed breast cancer.
