CDC issues warnings on cell phone use.

August 19, 2014.  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the lead federal health agency in the U.S.,  recently issued warnings about cell phone radiation.   This is the first federal agency in the U.S. to do this.

They state, “Along with many organizations worldwide, we recommend caution in cell phone use.”

Regarding children they state,  “Children who use cell phones – and continue to use them as they get older – are likely to be around RF for many years. If RF does cause health problems, kids who use cell phones may have a higher chance of developing these problems in the future.”

Regarding WHO research they state, research is being conducted on how cell phones may affect:

  • Some types of tumours [including acoustic neuroma that may affect hearing and glioma brain/CNS tumours]
  • Our eyes
  • Sleep
  • Memory
  • Headaches

CDC also provides tips to the public on how to “reduce radio frequency radiation near your body.”

  • Get a hands-free headset that connects directly to your phone.
  • Use speaker-phone more often.
  • If you have a pacemaker, keep cell phones at least 8 inches away from it.
